This is a special place with very spacial people. It is truly beautiful and very private. Food was incredible -- delicious, healthy and creative. They also made simple meals for our kids which was very appreciated. I love daily yoga classes and massage. The staff are the best I have seen anywhere -- they really care about the guests and went above and beyond. My daughter had a medical emergency on Christmas eve and they found a doctor and brought medication sooner than I could reach my insurance provider in the US. Playa Viva really walks the walk when it comes to sustainability - they are powered by solar, do not use plastic and provide strong support to the community in the area (we heard it from them!). David and Julia are incredible leaders who are doing all the right things both for the guests and their staff. It's been almost a month since Playa Viva and I still wont shut up about it when I speak to friends. Hope to be back

I hesitate to say that the experience was transformative, but it truly was, and that is due to the staff and the mission of this amazing eco-resort. My group was attending the resort for a yoga retreat. We did yoga each morning against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. You couldn't ask for a more beautiful location. The staff treated us like family. They knew our names and by the end, we knew theirs. The food was amazing and fresh, and part of it came from the farm on the property. All the food and goods in the boutique were locally sourced and farmed with help of the resort, who is truly giving back to the community. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Our stay at Playa Viva was a mother-daughter yoga retreat trip for my 50th birthday. We met amazing folks and loved everything about our stay. We were a little disappointed that there were no baby turtles hatching during our stay, (nature has a way of doing what it wants) and they only had one horse for the horseback ride on the beach, but we weren't disappointed because this meant we got more beach time. The food was great, the drinks at the bar even better! We are looking forward to staying again someday!

Overpriced place with a school camp touch. My husband and myself were extremely surprised and disappointed with our stay after reading all the nice reviews. I don’t know where all these people, who are writing good reviews staying, maybe they are staying in a cheaper accommodation, but we were paying around $700 per night and for this price you would definitely expect better service. I have been to various lodges and accommodations in nature, unique and beautiful, all over the world, so I can compare. In Africa, Asia, South America, North America, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Europe just to name a few. I didn’t experience ANYTHING so overpriced and with zero customer service as PlayaViva. I don’t mind to pay for having great and unforgettable experience but in this accommodation you pay for NOTHING. There is no hot water in the accommodation, when there is no sun. There is no minibar or “room service”, no food is allowed in the accommodation (yes, I understand that we are in nature and the food will attract insects etc but if I want to have dinner in my accommodation, I should be able to do so, you PAY for that). You have to eat strictly on time (it was a strange experience, reminding me about school camps or hospitals) in a common area, together with the staff. Seriously??? We felt like we are disturbing staff with our presence. Luckily, accommodations next to us were empty, otherwise there is no privacy at all, neighbors would be looking into your house and vice versa. The person who met us, Sofia, had no clue that we booked the Adventurer package and no clue, what is the name of the accommodation that we booked. Although, it’s highly advertised on their website, not by numbers, but by names. Highly incompetent. Although, she has good skills to drink wine. Staff, drinking alcohol in the restaurant, while guests are present. Wow. The person, Johny, who supposed to organize tours for us, didn’t show up on our first and second day, so we had to cancel the entire package and we were disappointed with the organization. Few hours after we asked for the refund for the package, Johny showed up during our dinner, interrupting the meal, apologizing that he didn’t show up earlier and saying that most of the tours aren’t available anyway due to the rainy weather (so why to sell the package if it’s difficult to fulfill it?) The only positive point was the food. It was delicious and you can say that the cook really knows the job. In general, kitchen staff and the person from the bar, Xavier, were extremely nice, professional and helpful. But, unfortunately, the excellent food wasn’t worth the money paid and the lost days from our holiday.

I came to Playa Viva on a solo trip. The staff could not have been more welcoming. I met so many wonderful people. Would definitely suggest taking tours with Johnny!! The food was unbelievable and visiting the farm was a highlight. I felt safe and had the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.The sustainability of Playa Viva is what drew me to stay here and they really do walk the walk. Such a beautiful place and I hope to be back again.

This is the ONLY place I have found in 53 countries that does EVERYTHING right! from their social/enviromental impact, to the friendliness of staff, amazing ambience and vibe, the epic treehouses and the food...Playa Viva is unreal!!! A place worth every penny you will spend, knowing that it goes to help restore the watershed, the animals, the life and the community of the nearby town. I am gushing with love for this place!

This Playa Viva eco resort vacation had been a bucket list item for my mom over several years. Arriving together as a family, learning about green energy, sustainability and regeneration was important to her and impactful for all of us. We enjoyed the gorgeous lodging, food, staff, farm, turtles, ocean/beach, and, most importantly, invaluable time spent together. Special thanks to David, Omar, Emma, Griffen, the turtle rescue workers, the kitchen staff and others who helped make this such a wonderful experience for all of us.

5 star plus (if I could give more stars I would, everything’s was perfect)! The most scenic and beautiful hotel ever!Designed with so much love and care, beautiful hotel that was really relaxing and great service! Loved everything about it! Worth to go out of your way to stay here.It’s quite remote, but easy to access with the taxi that was included in the price. Also lots of thing to do and see; like whales and baby turtles.

One word - Magical!This place is the place to go to disconnect and reconnect with yourself and the planet.The place is so beautiful, the food is fresh and delicious, and the owner and staff are so helpful and treat you like family.The farm is amazing - learn about regenerative farming. We enjoyed learning about all the ways to use the palm trees. as well as visiting the pigs and tasting the hibiscus.Don't miss what you can do to help turtles! In the evenings, you can participate in the group walk on the beach where you can help look for turtle eggs and protect them from predators. In the morning, you can release baby turtles and visit the education center of the turtle sanctuary and learn everything about turtles.The morning yoga and massages are so relaxing.The treehouses are beautifully designed with local materials and inspired by nature.Tip: Around dusk, put on mosquito repellent and change into long pants and long sleeve shirt.Thank you David, Julia, Jose and Fernando! I can't wait to come back!

Playa Viva was amazing! Beautiful location, amazing food, and the staff was fantastic. The rooms are comfortable and the turn down service was wonderful. Bathrooms are spacious. The food was delicious and highly recommend the Farm Tour- Amanda is an incredible human and I was so inspired by the work she is doing at the farm and for the local community. Overall, 5/5 vacation!

This is the most beautiful experience. This is a place to connect, reconnect, elevate consciousness and awareness about our role in this world. One of the best vacations I have been on!!! Playa Viva is magical! Alyra was such a gift ! She taught yoga and sang beautiful songs to us! The turtles were so cool!!! We helped release them into the wild. We even found a turtles nest and saved the eggs!! Staff felt like fanily!!!

A very private eco-resort. So private that you can leave your cellphone charging in the common sitting area by the pool and will not worry it getting lost. It’s brings you back to nature and Her serenity.I went there for a yoga retreat and that just was cherry on the topping as Playa Viva IS a retreat in itself.Wonderfully prepared meals from their garden that feeds not just your tummy but your soul as well.I will definitely be going back.

I feel incredibly grateful that I was able to come and experience Playa Viva. So many smiles from the staff whenever you crossed paths. Everything was always so clean. You can tell there’s so much respect for the land. Perfectly placed hammocks and loungers if you felt like you needed space, it was there for you. The food and refreshments were absolutely amazing. I came to Playa Viva on a yoga retreat and could not have been happier with the experience. The staff made me feel like they really cared about our experience and tried to accommodate all the needs of our fairly diverse group. The beach was pristine and gorgeous, no one but us as far as they eye could see and had the pleasure of seeing whales, dolphins and baby turtles on more than one occasion. The yoga platform had the most gorgeous views and was well stocked with high quality mats and props. For our evening practice they pulled down these translucent golden shades to prevent the sun from getting in our eyes while it set, creating an almost otherworldly experience. The food was fresh, healthy and abundant every day including fresh coconut milk for those who are dairy free, SOOO delicious. I also loved the small but beautifully curated boutique, they had a lovely selection of handmade items at reasonable prices. I visited every day, sometimes more than once! One other thing I loved about Playa Viva was they had a beautiful rescue dog named Mama on the property that had found them and then been adopted by a couple who visited there some months prior. It somehow added to the homeyness of it all. I would definitely come here again.

My four stays over five years have made Playa Viva is a touchstone for me -- when I can't sleep I imagine myself there, the ocean pounding outside my room at night, the birds and crickets, the gentle air. The food is delicious and healthy, the staff attentive and friendly, and the environment is physically beautiful to the point of breathtaking. Playa Viva is a place to relax and restore your peace of mind.

Playa Viva is more than a luxurious resort with amazing beach views and beautiful and comfortable accommodations.It is an experience, in tune with eco and social consciousness : farm to table delicious dinners and support to sea turtle conservation and various local projects. It also feels like a home thanks to the friendliest and warmest staff I've ever met.I stayed for 11 days and was heartbroken to leave all the beautiful people who work at Playa Viva. This small, eco-friendly resort is a true paradise. Because it sits on 200 acres you feel like you have an entire coastline to yourself. The staff are all so nice and helpful and want to make your stay truly amazing. I dream about the fresh, homemade meals cooked here! The work that Playa Viva does with La Tortuga Viva is so important and by staying here you're supporting an amazing cause, plus BABY TURTLES!! Do I need to say more?

Beautiful place with spirit. The staff is the heart of this resort. The food is unbelievable and the views will take your breath away. Note: Be prepared for bugs in your room as they are not fully enclosed and I was not prepared. The beds are prepared for you in the evening with nets, which will help keep them out (thank goodness)!
